Work experience program
We are committed to supporting students from the ACT Region in their studies and transition into working life through the IP Australia Work Experience Program (WEP).
The program is facilitated by the Department of Education and Training and is based upon the ACT Work Experience Program Guidelines & Requirements 2012.
Applications are open to all ACT based students in years 9-12.
What's on offer?
We currently have a variety of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) based opportunities on offer.
These opportunities are offered by our Business and Information Solutions Group (BIMSG).
In short, the vision for BIMSG is to deliver and manage information and technology to enable our business.
Below are some examples of areas in which placements may be available:
- Service Delivery (IT Help Desk, Service Centre support)
- Infrastructure Services ( Database administration, data networks, backup and storage systems, voice services)
- Program/Project Office (Program & Project administration and support)
- Communication & Change Management (Communication & Change strategies, activities & coordination)
How do you apply?
The first step to applying for a work experience placement is to contact your schools work experience coordinator.
Your coordinator will be able to assist you in figuring out which area(s) would be most appropriate or which you would prefer to be placed in.
IP Australia will endeavour to accommodate placement requests wherever possible based on the availability of suitable placement activities and supervision.
For more detailed information on the opportunities available or to apply, your schools work experience coordinator should contact the ACT WEX Administrator at the Department of Education & Training.
You can contact the ACT WEX Administrator by email to DETwex@act.gov.au or phone (02) 6205 9352.
