IP Australia fee review progresses following customer consultation
22 Jun 2010
IP Australia has recently completed a review of its fee structure.
IP Australia would like to thank those customers who provided comment. All feedback received has been taken into consideration and IP Australia will now request Government approval to make regulations to increase patent fees from 1 August 2010.
The increase to patent fees represents the first general increase to fees by IP Australia in more than three years. This increase is significantly lower than the impacts of inflation over the past three years. It represents a modest increase to meet the organisations operating requirements including the recruitment of additional patent examiners. All other IP Right fees will remain the same.
IP Australia will communicate further with customers following the request to Government to increase patent fees. Should the request to Government be agreed to, it is expected that the increase in fees will take place as of 1 August 2010.
