Congratulations to the winner of The New Inventors

18 Aug 2011

Edward Evans wins the grand final of the ABC New Inventors program for 2011 with his invention The Swing Gate.

Every day, thousands of farmers risk serious injury moving livestock through cattle yards. The Swing Gate reduces these risks so effectively, its creator was announced the grand final winner of the ABC New Inventors program for 2011 last night.

The invention is the brainchild of Edward Evans from Inverell NSW, who still carries the scars on his leg from a bull goring.

The Grand Final program featured a competitive field of finalists including:

  • Greg Leslie and Bruce Sutton, of the University of NSW, inventors of the ROSDI system which helps plants access brackish water via salt filters in irrigation pipes.
  • Andrew Duncan, from Perth, WA, inventor of NAC Flex, a safe and sustainable alternative to traditional methods of treating timber with arsenate.

The New Inventors program is proudly supported by IP Australia.
