Changes to Customer Correspondence
7 Jun 2012
IP Australia will begin internally implementing a new document generation tool later this month to improve the way the organisation produces customer correspondence. The improved system will allow for multiple formats, information sharing and re-use of valuable data into the future.
The new system will also improve the accuracy of correspondence to adhere to IP Australia’s ongoing quality initiatives. Once implemented customers will see various changes to some of their patent examination correspondence and documents.
Changes customers can expect to see include:
- IP Australia’s new corporate branding will be applied to patent examination correspondence.
- New Patent Examination Report format. The new format provides a simpler and cleaner layout with headings to allow for customers to more easily understand the content and clearly identify follow up actions.
- The new Patent Examination Report will now also include the Search Information Statement for original searches.
- Article 15(5) Search Reports will now be dispatched directly from the Patent Examiner with any requested citation to be sent separately after the report is dispatched.
The system and relevant customer correspondence changes are expected to be released during June 2012.
