Welcome Patricia Kelly, our new Director General

We will be under the leadership of Patricia Kelly from 9 December 2013. Patricia brings a wealth of experience to the role, and we are pleased to have her on board.
We would like to welcome Patricia Kelly as the new Director General of IP Australia. Bringing a wealth of knowledge to the role, Patricia has worked in the Department of Industry and its predecessor departments since 1995. Patricia has been a Deputy Secretary responsible for Industry and Innovation since 2004, and a member of the Advisory Council on Intellectual Property (2004 - 2009). Patricia was a member of the Review Panel for the National Innovation System (2008), and chaired the Management Advisory Steering Committee reporting innovation in the Australian Public Service (2008-2009).
Most recently, Patricia led the Department's Science, Research, Innovation and Skills group. The group included Science, Research and Innovation Division; Skills Division; Questacon - the National Science and Technology Centre; the Australian Astronomical Observatory; National Measurement Institute; and the Australian Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project. Patricia was awarded the Australian Public Service Medal for her efforts on the SKA project in 2013. She has chaired the Department's Audit Committee for the past six years, and will remain on the Department's Executive Board.
