Confidentiality
Most of the contracts listed contain confidentiality provisions of a general
nature that are designed to protect the confidential information of the parties
that may be obtained or generated in carrying out the contract. The reason for
including such clauses:
- ordinary commercial prudence that requires protection of trade secrets, proprietary
information and the like; and / or
- protection of other Commonwealth material and personal information.
IP Australia Consultancies over $10,000 2006-07
IP Australia’s policy on the selection and engagement of consultants and approving expenditure takes into account all relevant legislation; the revised Commonwealth Procurement Guidelines and IP Australia’s Chief Executive Instructions (CEI’s).
The procurement method is determined having regard to the cost and nature of the work involved.
During 2006 - 07, IP Australia engaged consultants to provide specialist advice and services in the following major areas:
- Ambush Marketing Legislation Review
- Development and delivery of the Leadership Professionals Program
- Internal Audit Services
- Contract Management Advisory Services
During 2006-07, 26 new consultancy contracts were entered into involving actual expenditure of $640,008. In addition, 3 ongoing consultancy contracts were active during the 2006-07 year, involving actual expenditure of $133,005. The total expenditure on consultancies for 2006-07 was $773,013.
