Opportunities in Patent Examination
Training program
On commencement you will undertake a training program which includes formal and on-the-job training. The training program will teach you:
- the basic procedures in IP Australia, the patent legislation and examination practices;
- to interpret patent documents, and to apply legal tests to an examination situation;
- to search patent and other technical databases and apply legal tests to decide whether an invention is new and inventive; and
- relevant workplace skills, including teamwork and time management, that you will need to make an effective contribution to your examination team.
You will be paid a full salary during the training program.
The training program is subject to assessment and must be successfully completed as part of your conditions of employment.
An ongoing professional development program in both the legal and technical aspects of the position is available.
