IP Australia’s Reconciliation Action Plan

In April 2008, IP Australia released its first Reconciliation Action Plan. The plan was officially endorsed by Reconciliation Australia – the peak organisation for building and promoting reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
The plan is designed to promote a respect for the creativity and innovation of Indigenous Australians for the benefit of all Australians.
The key reconciliation initiatives identified by the plan are:
- the further development of Australian Government policy positions on IP issues as they relate to the needs and interests of Indigenous Australians;
- increased Indigenous employment opportunities within IP Australia; and
- engagement and consultation with the Indigenous community on IP issues.
