Overview of the process


A design is the overall appearance of a product. The visual features that form the design include the shape, configuration, pattern and ornamentation, that when applied to the product gives it a unique appearance. Certified designs are legally enforceable and provide the owner with the exclusive rights for the visual appearance of the design. These rights do not include the feel of the product, what it's made from or how it works.
