Fees
This page sets out the fees associated with applications, registrations, oppositions and hearings.
These fees are subject to change. GST does not apply to these statutory fees under Division 81 of the GST Act 1999.
Note: A full list of fees are available in Schedule 4 of the Designs Regulations 2004.
Approved Means
Our fees include incentives for customers to use an approved means for specific transactions. Customers that file in this way will benefit through a lower fee. Read more information about approved means.
New Application
From 1 December 2012 the approved means for filing a new application is using eServices or by Business to Business (B2B)

Renewal of registration
From 1 July 2012 the approved means for renewing a design is using eServices or by Business to Business (B2B).

Fees for renewing a design registration under the old Act (Designs Act 1906)
Design registration applications that were filed before 17 June 2004 - the date the new Designs Act 2003 came into effect - can only be renewed under the terms of the old Act.
The old Act allowed two renewal periods of five years each, in addition to the original registration of six years, for a maximum registration period of 16 years. The fees for renewing a design registration under the old Act are shown below.
