Tips for registering and applying online

Tips for registering

Step 1 - Registration

Before you can access eServices you'll need to have TLS1.0 enabled in your internet browser. You'll then need to register to use the portal.

During the registration process you'll be asked to read and accept our Terms and Conditions and then enter your details including a valid email address. You will also need to provide details to help protect the security of your eServices account, including a 9 digit password and 3 secret questions and answers. You can select the first 2 secret questions from an existing list and you can make up your own question for the third.

Step 2 - Sign In

Once you have completed the registration and activation process you will need to sign in to use eServices.

Step 3 - Transact

The transactions you can perform are found under the My eServices tab. Select the transaction that you want to complete, fill in the form with the required information and make your payment.

Tips for applying online

PLEASE NOTE: If you have already started a Trade Mark application through our old Online Services, you will need to start again in eServices.

When applying for a Design through eServices the number of copies of Representations for Design applications is now only one, and not the five copies as stipulated under Paras 4.04 (1) (f) and 4.05 (1) (f) of the Designs Regulations 2004.

What you need to have:

  • Your image attachments ready and in the right size and format.
  • Your credit card details (MasterCard or Visa only).
  • Any associated application numbers (if applicable).

Throughout eServices there are help topics available to help you complete the transaction if you need them. You can access the help information for a particular field by clicking the question mark icons next to the field.

Be aware that information provided on the application forms; including your address details may be made publicly available (including on the internet). Read our privacy statement for more information.

We have quick reference guides that help give you a general understanding about what you'll need to complete the application process for each IP right through eServices.

We also have FAQs that provide more information about eServices that you might find helpful.
