Amending your patent online
- The online amendment should take between 5-10 minutes, if you prepare your information in advance.
- The online amendment must be completed in one session to help ensure the security of your data. You cannot save a partially completed form and return to it later.
- Please note that due to system constraints, a file size limit of 30MB currently applies to files attached to this form. Files larger than 30MB will not currently be accepted for processing.
- The logon session will time out after an hour of inactivity to help protect your privacy. If you do not initiate any activity in the browser within an hour, the session will time out and you will be automatically logged out next time you try to access the page.
- If you are connecting to the Internet through a dial up account, ask your Internet Service Provider how long the computer needs to remain idle before you are disconnected.
Information checklist
To complete the online amendment you will need to have the following information. This information must be supplied for your amendment to be submitted.
- application or patent number to which this online amendment refers
- details of the amendment requested and the reasons for change, which can be supplied to us as text typed or pasted into the form (up to a limit of 3500 characters for each) or as one or more files attached to the request. Accepted file types are Text (.txt), PDF (Portable Document Format), JPEG (.jpg) and TIFF (.tif).
The online amendment form
The online amendment form is divided into two sections. Once you have completed both these sections you will be able to preview your complete request on-screen before you submit it to us. You will also be able to print out for your own records all the information you have supplied.
