AusPat Data Coverage - what you can find in AusPat
1. Specifications that can be searched and viewed with AusPat from 8 November 2010:
- All specifications from 1998 will have abstract, description and claims components bookmarked and available for searching.
- Specifications with document kinds AU-B and AU-C from 1984 will have bookmarked components available for searching, as well as some AU-A documents from 1990 to 1997.
- Not all specifications before 1976 were printed. For some applications the document available through AusPat may be a single page containing a message like "Specification no published".
2. Specifications are being progressively added to AusPat and will be available for display and searching in the future.
3. IPC (International Patent Classification) data is available for OPI (Open to Public Inspection) applications from 1920. However, not all published applications 1920 to 1979 have IPC data available.
4. IPC version 8 has been applied to applications filed from 1970.
5. Application Number to Serial Number Concordance data. From serial number 100001 (25558/35) to present.
6. Standard patent applications filed from 1979:
- PCT applications filed after 1 January 2004 are only available once they have entered the National Phase.
- PCT applications filed before 1 January 2004 available if Australia was a designated country.
- No data for some early applications that lapsed/were withdrawn before OPI.
- There is some data coverage pre-1979
7. Innovation patent applications filed from 24 May 2001.
