Renew your IP
You must pay the appropriate renewal fees on time to maintain your IP rights.
Patents, trade marks, designs and Plant Breeder's Rights (PBR) all require periodic registration renewal. Please be aware that renewal fees are subject to change.
Some renewal payments can be made online, while others need to be posted to us. Alternatively, you can make a renewal payment in person at an IP Lodgement Point.
Renew your Patent
- by secure fax (for credit cards only) include a Payment Form
- by post (include a completed Payment Form for Credit Cards, Cheques and Money Orders)
- in person at our IP lodgement points or at our office in Canberra (cash, cheque, money order, debit or credit card)
- by electronic funds transfer (EFT).
If you would like to pay by EFT payment at the bank or via the internet, you should fill out an EFT form. It is your responsibility to include a reference number of up to 18 characters. We prefer that you quote your application or registration number/s in your reference where possible. If using EFT please ensure you send us the EFT form as failure to do so may affect your IP right. The date of your transaction will be the date that money arrives in our account not the date you undertake the transfer. This can be up to 10 working days, so please ensure you allow sufficient time for this method of payment.
