Dr Francis Gurry - Director General,
World Intellectual Property Organization

Australian-born Dr Francis Gurry will be undertaking his first official visit to Australia since becoming the head of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in October 2008. He is currently the most senior Australian in a United Nations structure, and only the third Australian to head a UN agency.

Francis Gurry will be visiting Australia from 3 – 7 August 2009, to progress WIPO’s cooperation with member countries and meet with agencies that are driving intellectual property (IP) policy in Australia.
