Prawnstar
Andrew Fogarty, an aquaculture biologist, fisherman and lure designer from Innisfail, Queensland, devised a lure fully equipped with several unique and innovative design features which combine in action to give ‘Prawnstar’ the fish catching edge.
Nominated for an Australian Design Award in 2002, the deceptively life-like prawn lure has a flicking tail that produces a pressure wave just like the real thing. The lure also produces a flicking action, which stimulates fish feeding behaviour. These and other distinguishing characteristics set the evocatively named ‘Prawnstar’ apart and it is now being distributed in Asia, South Africa, the South Pacific and Europe.
