IP Australia launches electronic information products
IP Australia is pleased to announce the launch of a series of electronic information products. These products contain bibliographic and image data captured by IP Australia’s IT systems when an application for an IP right is made.
The two new products available are:
- Trade Mark Bibliographic e-Data, and
- Patent Bibliographic e-Data
The Trade Mark Bibliographic e-Data product provides information on Australian Trade Marks from IP Australia’s Trade Mark searching database, ATMOSS. The product includes trade marks filed since 1906 and includes data on each trade mark such as filling, registration and cancellation dates, applicants details, class and goods or services details, plus many more data fields. The Trade Mark Bibliographic e-Data initial extract is provided in an XML format on DVD. This allows the user to develop their own database to filter and analyse information and produce customised reports from the data. Weekly updates are available for download through the website.
The Patent Bibliographic e-Data provides a copy of the data contained in AusPat and includes up to 180 data elements for each application filed since 1979. Very limited data exists for some applications prior to this date. The Patents Bibliographic e-Data initial extract is provided in an XML format on DVD. This allows the user to develop their own database to filter and analyse information and produce customised reports from the data. Daily updates are available for download through the website.
Other existing electronic information products are provided by IP Australia. These are a range of CD ROM products containing published Australian patent specifications and abstracts along with PDF copies of the Australian Official Journals of Patents, Trade Marks and Designs. The information contained in these products is also available free of charge on line. Published weekly, the specifications average 40 pages, but can be hundreds of pages, and are in image (pdf) format.
Therefore depending on speed of access to the Internet, it is likely that the specifications will take considerable time to display and/or print. For this reason, you may prefer to obtain the specifications on CD-ROM as a subscription item.
