  • Search the trade marks database to reveal any registered or pending trade marks which are identical or similar to your proposed trade mark;
  • Take care when filling in your application form (see information below). Once you have filed it, the goods or services cannot be extended. Only very minor amendments are allowed to the trade mark;
  • Include a concise and accurate description of any trade marks containing or consisting of sounds, scents, shapes, colour or aspect of packaging; and
  • Ensure the relevant fees accompany your application. A filing date will not be granted if the correct fee is not received with the application. Application fees are non-refundable.
