Personal Property Securities Register

The Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) is a central Australian register for the registration of security interests in personal property other than land and fixtures.

Personal property includes intellectual property (IP), as well as IP licences.

Searching the PPSR

Before purchasing the rights to IP, you should check there are no existing security interests by searching the PPSR. You should also search if you are taking security over any IP as part of a financing arrangement, or taking security over a licence to use or exploit the IP.

To conduct a search, you will need the IP right number issued by us. You will also need to pay a feefor using the PPSR to conduct your search.

Check out the PPSR business guide and other PPSR resources for more information.
