We’ve made improvements to our patent examination structure

Published:

We have renamed our patent examination sections to make it clear what technology each section is responsible for examining. For example, our Mechanical section now includes the teams Mechanical Engineering, Construction & Mining, Process Engineering, Medical Devices and Mixed Technologies instead of A4, C5, B1, B4 and A5.

What does this mean for you?

External correspondence such as patent examination reports that you receive will reflect these changes when the Examiner of your patent application is indicated.

The exception to this is the section ‘MXT’, who are responsible for examining a mixed variety of technology types but reside within the Mechanical group. External correspondence may show  that the Examiner is part of the Electrical group even though they are examining a Chemistry related patent application.
