In May 2016 we sent our virtual assistant Alex into the world of intellectual property (IP). We are excited to see so many people try out the functionality of Alex and provide valuable feedback.
As of October 2016, we’ve had over 10 000 people use Alex to obtain information on IP. The feedback we have received has proved invaluable in helping us enhance Alex’s capability.
Since launching, Alex has expanded her knowledge from a single IP right (trade marks) to now offer information across the four IP rights we administer (patents, trade marks, designs and plant breeder’s rights). Alex also offers customers the option of being transferred to a live agent to continue their conversation for more complex queries.
We are continually improving Alex to ensure she remains a valuable customer service tool. Her knowledge base and effectiveness improves with each new customer interaction.
