IP Australia fee review 2023/24

IP Australia is scheduled to undertake a fee review during the 2023-24 financial year.

Why review our fees?

The aim of this review is to assess the entity’s cost recovery arrangements, in accordance with the Australian Government Charging Framework, and to ensure IP Australia’s fees are consistent, transparent and recover the costs associated with administering the IP rights system in Australia.

IP Australia reviews its fees every four years, with our last fee review having been undertaken in the 2019-20 financial year. This review will invite public comment on our current and proposed fee structure and associated charges. We'll engage openly with you throughout the review.

While not every submission will result in immediate changes to fees, it may feed into a longer-term strategy on agency objectives and be included in a future fee review.

What happens next?

A public consultation period is now open for submissions until Sunday 2 July 2023.

Submit your feedback

All constructive proposals and submissions will be considered and workshopped in order to explore their viability and impact. Following our review, a draft Cost Recovery Implementation Statement (CRIS), outlining all proposed fee changes, will be made available on our website for further comment.

It's anticipated that any fee changes, approved by Government, will take effect from October 2024.
