The National Johne's Program aims to eliminate Johne's disease and minimise the risks of contagion through periodic screening and monitoring of cattle, sheep, goats, alpaca and deer in Australia. Through their Market Assurance Programs, CattleMAP, SheepMAP, GoatMAP and AlpacaMAP herds or flocks are tested to determine their disease status and managed to reduce the risk of becoming infected.

In order to use the National Johne's Program Market Assurance Program trade marks, a herd or flock must be tested either through blood or faecal testing for disease status. Appropriate management procedures can be implemented to begin control or eradication of the infection.

Flocks and herds that are determined to be clear of infection will receive a level of assurance which can vary through different levels.
