The Valpolicella Ripassoword mark was established by the Italian Department of Agriculture to promote wines and wine grapes grown and processed in the viticultural zone of Veneto region of North-East, Italy.

Valpolicella Ripasso must be made from grapes which have been left over from the process of making recioto and amarone wines. These wines are made through an extended maceration process including wine grapes being dried out for several weeks or even months after harvest. In order to obtain certification the wine and wine grapes must be produced in the viticultural zone of Veneto, north-eastern Italy.
