Country codes for Patents

IP Australia follows the WIPO ST.3 (PDF) recommended standard on 2-letter codes for the representation of states, other entities and intergovernmental organizations for all patent data and the ISO 3166-1 standard on country names and codes for address and applicant/inventor details, (except for HK which follows the WIPO ST.3 standard in this instance too), with the following exceptions due to Australian Government policy: MO represents the country name Macau, TL represents East Timor and TW represents Taiwan.
