You may access the mainframe using either a Java applet or TN3270 software. Refer to our frequently asked questions about access to IP Australia mainframe databases.

Access IP Australia's mainframe with a Java applet from your browser

The preferred method of accessing IP Australia's mainframe is to use a Java applet. The IBM Host on Demand applet (which does not allow screen printing) should take around 3-5 minutes to load on a standard modem.

Note: If you are using a firewall you may have to configure it for access to port 23.

Access IP Australia's mainframe with TN3270 software

Download this TN3270 software from other sources on the Internet:

  • Mocha W32 TN3270 at Mochasoft for 32 bit Windows
  • Intelliterm at Distinct for any MS Windows (95, 98, NT,2000,XP)
  • TN3270 for the Macintosh at Brown for Macintosh

Once you have installed the software, you can access IP Australia's mainframe with the following settings:

Host Name: www.ipaustralia.gov.au
Port no: 23 (default Telnet port)
Terminal type: 3279 or 3279 model 2 or 3
