Classes of goods and service
Example of fees payable when filing and registering in more than 1 class:
If, for example, you want to apply to register a trade mark for perfume, clothing
and sunglasses-perfume is in class 3, sunglasses are
in class 9 and clothing is in class 25.
You would file a multi-class application covering classes 3, 9 and 25, so the
fee you have to pay at filing is $540-[$180 x 3] or $360 when filing on-line
- OR [$120 x 3] when applying on-line using the official Goods & Services
pick-list.
If your trade mark gains registration, you will have a registration fee to
pay after your trade mark is accepted. This would be $750 on current costs-[$250
x 3].

Notes on fees
The Trade Marks Act has various fees which are required to be paid. If you choose to pursue trade marks activities without professional advice, you should take care to understand the requirements, the related fees and associated time frames. Failure to meet the deadlines or pay a fee on time can have serious consequences for your application.
View our policy outlining the very limited circumstances in which fees will be refunded.
