Extensions of Time

You have 15 months from the date of the examiner's first report to meet any requirements identified by the examiner and to have your application accepted by the Registrar. If you need more time, you may request and pay for up to another 6 months, providing the request is made before the date specified in the examiner's report.

Late requests and requests for extensions beyond 21 months must be:

  • accompanied by the appropriate fee;
  • made on specific grounds;
  • accompanied by a declaration supporting the ground(s) and explaining the reasons you need more time.
