Trade Mark Records

Purpose

 

Enable IP Australia to meet its accountability requirements to the Australian Government by providing an effective history of transactions and decisions made under the Trade Marks Act 1995. The records provide details of the administration of trade mark applications and registered trade marks.

 

Content

 

All information associated with the prosecution of trade mark applications and the maintenance of registered trade marks. Includes applicant details, and descriptions and representations of trade marks.

 

Access and Security

 

 

Access to trade mark records depend on the type of record. Most trade mark records are publicly available once the application is advertised as filed. Most trade mark records can be accessed via freedom of information and Available for Public Inspection (API) requests. Records associated with assisted filing service requests that do not proceed to an application are not available to the public. Trade mark records are generally unclassified except for information provided by applicants that is provided ‘in-confidence’ – these record are For Official Use Only.
