Amendments to the Patents Regulations 1991 will come into effect on 25 September 2019, which will simplify the filling of translations of patent documents and certificates of verification. These amendments are in schedule 1 to the Intellectual Property Laws Amendment (PCT Translations and Other Measures) Regulations 2019.

The main effect of these changes is that you will no longer need to file a certificate of verification of translation when you filed an English translation of a patent document with IP Australia. You may be asked to verify the translation at a later date if IP Australia has concerns about the quality of the translation.

Further information can be found on the Regulations page.
