We recently updated our WIPO notices to include a reminder about appointing an Australian address for service where this is necessary. In line with the regulations, this should be done “as soon as practicable”, though there are no specific sanctions or penalties for not doing so. The legislation and our application of it have not changed.

An Australian address for service is still mandatory for Holders who wish to respond to a refusal or engage in opposition proceedings.
