We are working hard to improve your experience when managing your IP rights.

Currently we are updating the way you file a trade mark opposition to provide a modern, intuitive, and streamlined process that makes filing an opposition to the registration or removal of a trade mark faster and easier.

Our first change is to the notice of intention to oppose form. This form is the first step in filing an opposition to the registration or removal of a trade mark. The new, improved form is available for use now.

What has changed?

We have made the process simpler by providing a structured notice of intention to oppose form through our online services platform.

You can now access, complete and lodge the notice of intention to oppose form as you would any other form/correspondence through your online services account.

Please note: B2B customers using an API are able to use the unstructured form presently, with plans to transition to the structured form in the future.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact us for assistance on 1300 65 10 10 (9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday) AEST.

What’s next?

The update to the notice of opposition form is only the first step in our improvements to the trade mark opposition process. We will continue to make improvements throughout 2022 including to the ‘Statement of grounds and particulars’ and ‘Notice of intention to defend’ forms. To stay updated on the changes sign up to our monthly newsletter, What’s New.

How can I provide feedback?
