IP Australia is conducting a review of Australia’s design ecosystem to better understand what drives visual design innovation and what changes may be needed to realise greater benefits to the Australian economy.
As part of our exploratory research, we held over 80 interviews around Australia and heard from designers and industries.
This report shares what we found out and takes you through what we have heard from participants in the design ecosystem. It follows the life of a design as it goes through that ecosystem: from someone’s motivation to design something new, their interactions with the design rights system and getting their design to market, through to potentially experiencing and trying to combat copying.
We encourage you to read and share the report.
