Job Description/Context of the role:

The role of the Business and Information Management Solutions (BIMSG) Group is to deliver and manage information and technology to enable IP Australia's business.

The Solutions Delivery (External Systems) is responsible for the maintenance, enhancement and support of applications and systems developed as part of IP Australia's Integrated Customer Service Delivery eBusiness initiative - eServices. The section’s responsibilities include business analysis, application development, SOA integration, data modelling and XML across a range of platforms supporting $150 million of annual revenue through the eServices channel.

The Assistant Director - Agile will be responsible for:

  • Managing, mentoring and co-ordinating the efforts of the technical experts tasked in supporting and further enhancing eServices.
  • performing tasks associated with the strategic direction of the section, including technology roadmap and architectural analysis.
  • Manage and progress the Agile teams to deliver key functionality for business.
  • Customer and stakeholder engagement with external and internal parties.
  • The capabilities required for this role are defined by the APS Integrated Leadership System (ILS) capabilities at the EL1 Level, and the Level 5 Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) capabilities listed below, the latter which form part of the Australian Public Service ICT Capability Framework.

Specific Duties:

As the Assistant Director - Agile within the Solutions Delivery (External Systems) section you will be required to:

  • Lead and manage the activities of a technical delivery team, engaged in the ongoing development of IP Australia’s eServices' applications and systems across a range of platforms and technologies.
  • Mentor, manage and develop the capabilities of staff
  • Undertake strategic planning and be the Agile champion for the section
  • Develop and maintain delivery schedules and alignment to the operational plan.
  • Provide advice to a range of stakeholders including management, business users and team members.
  • Demonstrates attitudes and behaviours responsive to workplace change (including participates in and encourages others to participate in change and contribute to successful outcomes)
  • Improves organisational performance through effective engagement with and management of risk within relevant sphere of influence
  • Establishes clear expectations and creates an environment to achieve stated goals and objectives, takes ownership and honours commitments
  • Maintains an understanding of their/worker responsibilities under the Work Health & Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and a commitment to promoting a healthy and safe workplace.

Eligibility Qualifications/Knowledge required:

  • Experience in leadership and team management is required
  • Agile experience is required
  • Demonstrated experience customer relationship management is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in communication strategies for key stakeholder is desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in ICT Delivery is required
  • Experience in the Change Management is desirable
