The rules governing the use of this registration certify that a farm has met criteria for certification as set out in the Sustainably Farmed Barramundi Certification Program Manual, version 2.0 which addresses economic, social and environmental aspects of sustainability including hygiene and quality aspects of production. Barramundi farms must commit to comply with environmental, planning, safety and hygiene standards outlined by ABFA in the manual.

At the time of filing, this trade mark was owned by Australian Barramundi Farmers Association (ABFA), an association which is the membership organisation for the Australian farmed barramundi industry which started in the 1980s. ABFA provides links between the industry, farmers, suppliers, wholesalers and retailers, and information on industry suppliers, quality control and membership.
