Stakeholder consultation on the Exposure Draft of the Intellectual Property Laws Amendment (Productivity Commission Response Part 2 and Other Measures) Bill 2018 closed on 31 August 2018.

The draft legislation proposed measures to implement aspects of the Government’s response to the Productivity Commission’s (PC) inquiry into Australia’s Intellectual Property (IP) arrangements. The draft legislation also includes amendments to strengthen plant breeder’s rights (PBR) enforcement, streamline a number of processes for the IP rights that we administer, and make a number of technical improvements to the legislation.

We received 18 non-confidential submissions. We have considered all feedback and thank everyone who provided submissions on the draft legislation.

Our proposed response to this consultation detailing further changes, other outcomes and reasoning is published on the IP Australia website.
