On 2 December 2019, IP Australia hosted a Designs Forum in collaboration with the University of Sydney. The Forum was an exciting and unique opportunity for the design community to meet with government and drive discussions for new and innovative ideas for designs reform that will generate tangible improvements benefitting the Australian design community and consumers. Participants did not disappoint with their creative, dynamic and out-of-box thinking – everything we prize in Australia’s designers.

The outcomes of the Forum are important considerations in IP Australia’s research into reform for the design system under the Designs Review Project, and build upon the findings of the qualitative research report Talking Design: Views from Australia’s visual design ecosystem. Opportunities for future engagement with the design community are an important part of the Designs Review Project.
