If you’re an innovative small or medium enterprise (SME), the Australian Government would like to hear from you. The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS) has opened a consultation on commercialising intellectual capital. This is part of the Government’s commitment to better understand your overall needs in relation to exploiting intellectual capital and securing, using and enforcing your intellectual property (IP) rights so you can meet your business objectives.

Your intellectual capital includes your ideas, know-how, branding, data, trade secrets and copyright as well as registered IP rights such as patents, trade marks, designs and plant breeder’s rights.

The consultation is open until 3 August 2018. SMEs, their mentors and advisors are encouraged to provide their feedback to this process, so that the Government can better meet your needs and support you to commercialise your ideas.

You can learn more about the consultation process on the DIIS consultation page.
