David Bennett was IP Australia’s first IP Counsellor to China, and was based at the Australian Embassy, Beijing from 2016 - 2020. He helped Australians to protect their IP in China, in particular by providing information and guidance on the realities of IP registration and enforcement. He also supported the Australian government’s engagement with China on IP matters.
David has worked in IP Australia’s international, domestic, and trade policy sections, as well as in the private sector. He is a registered trade marks attorney and former biotechnology patent examiner, with a technical background in molecular biology.
Emily Ma commenced as Landing Pad Manager in Shanghai in October 2018. Prior to that she supported Austrade's activities in North Asia. Emily hails from a background in corporate innovation at Trilogy, having helped the company to establish its R&D centre in Hangzhou and managing its incubator program.
Emily is passionate about creating opportunities for Australian start-ups and scale-ups in China.
