WIPO Standard ST.26

A new version of WIPO Standard ST.26 (1.7) to take effect 1 July 2024.

Since 1 July 2022, all new patent applications which include nucleotide and/or amino acid sequence listings have been required to be presented in the WIPO Standard ST.26 file format. This applies to Australian national patent applications and international Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications.

In December 2023, a revised version of WIPO Standard ST.26 (version 1.7) was agreed to at the eleventh session of the Committee of WIPO Standards and will take effect from 1 July 2024.

From 1 July 2024, all nucleotide and/or amino acid sequence listings accompanying new applications should be presented in the WIPO Standard ST.26 version 1.7 format. This applies to Australian national patent applications and international Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications.

WIPO have published the revised version on their website, WIPO Standard ST.26 version 1.7.

We encourage all applicants to familiarise themselves with this new version. Version 1.6 should be continued to be used until 1 July 2024.
