The Economic Impact of Plant Breeder’s Rights in Australia report was commissioned to get a better understanding of the users of our PBR system and the economic impact of PBR.
It found that a little more than half of PBR applications are from non-Australian residents, that most Australian firms with PBR don't apply for plant-related patents and that PBR is most likely to have an impact when output and yield growth is high.
