Issue summary
The current Patents regulation 3.16 prescribes the grounds on which direction to request examination of a patent application can be made.
Under this proposal, IP Australia would seek to amend the regulation to provide more flexibility to the way direction for requesting examination can be made. This will allow better use of examination resources to deliver more efficient examination, delivering a better service to patent applicants.
