Issue summary
New objections may occasionally be raised against an Australian patent application when there is a relatively short period of time before the final acceptance deadline. This can be due to new art discovered in other jurisdictions. This causes difficulty particularly for an overseas based applicant because there are often numerous different people required to consider and contribute to a response to an examiner's objection in a short time.
Options to address this issue would be explored under this proposal.
