Understanding intellectual property issues: Introducing IP First Response’s new chatbot

A new chatbot feature is helping small businesses understand their IP options.

To help small businesses better understand and respond to intellectual property (IP) questions and issues, IP Australia is piloting an IP First Response free artificial intelligence (AI) powered chatbot.

IP First Response is a platform, developed by our IPAVentures team, to provide clear, practical information for businesses about IP in an Australian context – whether it’s learning how to enforce your IP rights, exploring possible options in response to an accusation of infringement, or discovering how you can be proactive to protect your ideas after registering IP.

It’s built to improve access to information, ensuring that if you do need to speak with a legal professional, you arrive better-informed and prepared.

The helpful resource was developed using insights from Australian businesses and consultation across the IP ecosystem, including legal and industry experts.

New chatbot feature supports easier access to information

The interactive chatbot draws on machine-readable content across the platform to direct users to relevant information and resources in plain language.

The chatbot is currently in its early stages of rollout, and reflects our commitment to a future-ready, accessible IP ecosystem.

IP First Response is designed to support, not replace, professional legal advice. The platform is here to educate and empower users, working alongside the broader IP ecosystem to ensure businesses stay protected and competitive.
